Yuji J. Matson is a Senior Lawyer at Remedios Lawyers Law Corporation. After practising with Remedios & Company Law Corporation, Yuji has decided to join Remedios Lawyers, where he continues to advise individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and businesses on immigration, corporate and commercial, employment, real estate, and wills and estates matters.
Yuji was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2014. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2011 before completing a Master of Laws in International Economic and Business Law at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. During his graduate studies, he completed an internship with the Hague Conference on Private International Law in the Netherlands, where he gained valuable insight into international legal cooperation and cross-border legal issues.
In addition to his legal education, Yuji earned a Master of Arts in Modern Japanese Literature and Film from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies from the University of British Columbia. Prior to entering the legal profession, he participated in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, where he taught English in Japan and further developed his understanding of Japanese language, culture, and international relations.
Yuji has established a broad practice with a particular focus on Canadian immigration law. He has represented both businesses and individuals on a wide range of immigration matters, including work permits, permanent residence applications, and other immigration processes. In addition, he advises clients on corporate and commercial matters, employment law, real estate transactions, and wills and estates, providing practical legal solutions tailored to each client's personal and business objectives.
Active within the local Japanese Canadian community, Yuji previously served on the board of the Greater Vancouver Japanese Canadian Citizens' Association and currently serves on the board of the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce. He is also a director of the Nikkei Place Foundation and the Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society. Yuji is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Kiyukai Vancouver Japanese Business Association.
Yuji is fluent in both English and Japanese.
